Jensen Ackles (born March 1, 1978 in Dallas, Texas) is an American actor. Jensen grew up in Dallas, attending Texas Tech University to study sports medicine in order to be a physical therapist. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. In 1996, Jensen made making guest appearances on TV shows like Mr. Rhodes and Sweet Valley High before he landed a role on Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady. He would earn three Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor In A Drama Series. In 2000, he left Days. He landed the role of Ben in the Fox sci-fi series, Dark Angel. He appeared in the final season of Dawson’s Creek, but had his breakout in 2005 when he was cast as Dean Winchester in the CW horror/drama series, Supernatural. He has portrayed the character ever since. In addition to his television work, Jensen has starred in movies like Ten Inch Hero, My Blood Valentine 3D and in a 2007 stage production of A Few Good Men.

Jensen has a brother, Josh, and a sister, Mackenzie. His father, Alan Roger Ackles, is also an actor. Jensen began dating actress Danneel Harris in 2006. After three years of dating the couple got engaged, and married in 2010. Their first daughter, Justice Jay, was born on May 30, 2013. Jensen considers himself a non-denominational Christian.
